What others are saying about College Bound!

EDUCATORS

Hi, I just wanted to pass on how impressed I am with Mariesha and how she works with our students. This week she was right outside our offices having her individual meetings with students to give them a pep talk and strategies for how to improve. She had great rapport with/respect from the students and spoke with authority. Such a positive, supportive experience for each student! Thanks to each of you and to your staff from all the wonderful support you give our students.

Lisa… thank you for bringing “College Bound” to Miller Academy. The opportunities and experiences you have brought to our students are outstanding. I am very proud that we are a “College Bound” school.

Lisa,

I can’t tell you how impressed and inspired I am by College Bound. The video and the explanation you share both left a strong impression. I think it was a powerful experience for the seniors. I know it was for me. I hope that I can find ways in the future to work with College Bound again!

Lisa,
This is my idea of accountability and success.  Thanks for all CB is doing to assist SLPS students.

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for speaking to both sections of my social policy class. You touched many of the students personally. One student came up after class and said that she had been considering dropping out of college, but after hearing your talk and seeing the video, she thought, “if they can do it, I can do it!”

COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Debbie, First of all, I wanted to tell you how wonderful it was to finally meet you and your students. I was truly blown away. Let me know if we can move forward and begin scheduling a bus tour for you. I’m really excited about working in partnership.

Illinois State University

Hello Laurie,

It’s always an honor and pleasure to work with you and your group. Raniesha is going to do big things with her life. She’s a go getter! On a side note, one of your students is the niece of a close colleague. My colleague gratefully told me (today) that if it wasn’t for College Bound, things would have been so much more difficult for her niece. This is another example of why College Bound is so important.

Associate Director of Residential Life
Washington University

Dear Laura,

Thanks for the great news about Chansese!! Terrific! I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my subgroup of five student (Nathaniel, Chanese, Brittney, Josh and DeAndrea). They have all touched me in some way and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help.

Margaret Condie
CB Classroom Volunteer

P.S. I think I get more out of the experience than they do. I always leave the school with a smile on my face.

STUDENTS

Dear College Bound Staff,

I want to thank all of you for allowing me to participate in this wonderful program. Because of you all I not only met great new people, I learned things about myself as well. Throughout this program I always felt loved and cared about by the staff. I felt comfortable about sharing my feelings, dreams and concerns. I really appreciate spending this time with ALL of you. Thanks!

Arianna Hays, CB Student

Thank you Lisa for all that you do for me and everyone else. I can’t imagine where I would be right now if we never met. I don’t know how I would have made it through so many troubling times without your support and help. Growing up, I’ve always thought I was greatly cursed. Knowing this, it was clear to me that the only way I would be put on the right path to a happy and successful life would be if I was greatly blessed. I believe that I am now. In life, some of us need more help than others, even if we don’t want to admit it. Thank you for being there.

Love ya, Ayriel

Hey Lisa, this is Ken Clark.  I wanted to inform you that I am now an official college student at Missouri Western University for the spring semester.  I wanted to thank you and Debbie because without you ladies, I wouldn't know the importance of college.  I took awhile, but I'm finally here.  Thanks a lot.

Dear Friends,

The Holiday season is upon us and it has made me realize how important each and every one of you are to me. Whether I’ve known you for 3 years or 3 months, you’ve had a significant impact on me and my family life. This time last year I was unsure of my future but with the help and support of you, I know now exactly what it holds. With one semester in the books, I thank you. I thank you on so many levels. You’ve been there when it was rough and when it was smooth sailing. Thanks for never giving up and never giving in. I may not show it or say it enough but I appreciate everything you do. I know I speak for every student in CB when I say keep up the great work! I want to wish you a your families happy holidays and a safe New Year.

Love always, Devon
