Your Journey Starts Here
Our To and Through program is the introduction to College Bound. Emphasizing a holistic approach, we support high school students through academic development, college counseling, mental health services, and career development. High school students begin the To and Through Program at the start of their sophomore year.
Eligibility Criteria
College Bound emphasizes support of first-generation students with demonstrated financial need. First-generation means that neither parent has obtained a bachelor’s degree. Financial need is determined by the state of Missouri poverty guidelines and takes into consideration household income and family size.
While we strive to serve this population of students, we understand that all students can benefit from the support of our program. Students who do not fit the primary eligibility criteria are still encouraged to apply, but admission priority will be given to students who are first-generation, low-income.
Additionally, students must have at least a 2.5 GPA and have a willingness and motivation to pursue higher education.
To & Through Application Process
Submit an Application and Academic Records
The first step of joining the To and Through program is to submit an application. The application includes identifying student information, college and career goals, and information about the student’s family and is completed by the student and legal guardian. Information gathered in the application allows us to learn more about the student and determine if College Bound is the best fit.
Fall Applicants: If the student is applying to College Bound during the fall semester, they need to include their progress report or report card at the time the application is submitted. At the end of the fall semester, they will be asked to provide their unofficial transcript to verify their grade point average.
Spring Applicants: If the student is applying to College Bound during the spring semester, they will need to include their unofficial transcript, that includes fall grades, to verify their grade point average.
Fall and Spring Applicants: At the end of the school year, all applicants will need to provide their unofficial transcript, that includes fall and spring grades, to verify their academic year grade point average.
Complete the College Bound Interview
The next step in the application process is to complete the College Bound New Student Interview. The purpose of the interview is to learn more about the student. This will allow us to gain a better understanding of the support that the student needs while in the program. While the interview is student-focused, parents and legal guardians are encouraged to attend to learn more about the program.
Complete the To and Through Enrollment Packet
The Enrollment Packet is a major step in the admission process, as it grants College Bound permission to work with the student. The Enrollment Packet must be completed by the legal guardian and provides releases to the student’s academic data, guidance on emergency information, and is used to determine student eligibility through reporting of family income.
Admission Decision
Once the Enrollment Packet is received, the packet, interview notes, and application are reviewed by College Bound. Based on eligibility criteria, an admission decision will be made and communicated to the student and their family.
